We hear you. We're still a pretty young site and working hard to build up some momentum. If you enjoy the site and our trivia games, we encourage you to help us get the word out or use our 'Invite a Friend' feature in your account area to let your friends know to join you. We promise to continue to improve on our games, questions and features and we'll continue expanding our marketing efforts to bring more players to the game.

Yes! Market, market, market! I'm a huge trivia buff and I honestly think this is the best online game I've found so far. All it needs is people playing it! Excellent job so far.

I wanted to address this issue and give everybody a "State of the Union", so-to-speak. Probably the most common feedback we get is based along these lines.

We launched just over 14 weeks ago now and have been working diligently to implement new features and fix any bugs that have been found. In the early phase, our primary goal has been to deliver on game-play features and making sure we had quality content (questions, factoids, etc).

Our initial marketing efforts were fairly ineffective because when we'd get new players here, there was noone playing and they would quickly move on. We have been able to pick up some traffic as word of the site and positive feedback starts to move across the internet and via "word-of-mouth". Overall, we've been very happy with the progress the site has made in a short time on a shoestring budget.

For those that like numbers...we currently have over 3,000 registered users and continue to add between 20-40 new users per day. The best metric we use for gauging growth is "Questions served per week" which basically equates to how many questions are served that are acted upon by users in the game. This number does not include unanswered questions. To give you some basis, during the last 5 weeks of 2006 (our first 5 weeks) we averaged 1800 questions served per week. In the first 4 weeks of 2007, that number increased to just over 3200. The following 4 weeks have been: 9552, 9518, 15576, 19364 and we're on pace to break 20,000 this week. We currently serve between 100-150 users per day which has been steadily growing.

As we look to the future, our search engine rankings continue to improve daily and as we get closer to the top of the results, traffic will continue to grow. We also continue to see additional sites linking to us which helps drive traffic and helps with our search rankings.

Beyond trying to deliver a superior product, we're also continuing to drive new users in a measured way. As I said before, blindly driving traffic here did not do much for anyone. So, until we can pretty consistently guarantee that new users will have competition when they first show up, we've implemented an automated system to turn on our Click Ad campaigns through Google and Yahoo when there are more than 5 people playing and turn them off when "nobody" is here. In doing so, we've been able to add new faces that have a positive first experience with the site and the game. Additionally, we're able to maximize our return on the cost of attracting these new users.

I wanted to say "thank you" to all who've found us and continue to use the site. Your feedback has been invaluable in making us better and your generosity with helping new players and making them feel welcome has been a huge help to us. We certainly wish we had the budget to really launch this site, but we don't so a more targetted and patient approach is required. We've seen growth well beyond expectations at this point and all signs point to sustained growth in the future. We appreciate your patience as we get there.

As always, any feedback you have is greatly appreciated.

I'd like to add some ways you can help us grow (if you're so inclined).

If you have a blog or MySpace page or similar, please add a link to us along with (optionally) a little blurb. If you use a social-bookmarking system like del.ici.ous, please add us. Use our "Invite-a-Friend" in your web profile to send an e-mail to people you know who might enjoy the game. Add a link to us in forum discussions where we might be relevant.

If you are unsure of how to add a link or want copy for a write-up, please contact us and we will work with you to get it done.

Why are links and such so important? More than just the direct referrals we get from a link on your blog or page, search engines base their results on "popularity" (a bit of an over-simplification, but...). So, the more links to our site, the higher we will rank on Google, Yahoo, MSN and so on for particular searches. So, every little bit helps.

one thing I think you guys at InteracTrivia should look into is expanding the available game topics region.  Right now, it is very limited, and I know me and a few friends play this and would like to see some sections added like sciences(chem, physics, bio) and maybe even throw in math for number buffs.  I think more available topics would bring more interest to the site.

By the way, i used to manage my old site, and by offering a wide range of topics to post on, or for here, quiz on, will help more google searches to bring up the site and also increase interest by giving the facade that a lot of topics means a lot of members, obeekaybee?!

tkund,

Thanks for the feedback. We're working to bring more categories and, in particular, more narrowly-focused categories of trivia to our users. Look for many more categories to be added in the coming weeks. Areas we're currently working on include science, history and music.

We had great fun inThe Big Easy tonight - I assume General had frozen again earlier. There were 16 - 18 playing and some good banter going on. I agree with TabulaRasa - we are spreading the word! Great site - I hope the "freezing" problems can get resolved but other than that I have no criticsims as you will never make the game "perfect" for everyone.
